 The Celebration: July 4, 2026 – 250 Years of Independence

On July 4, 2026, the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary—marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776.The official theme of the Semiquincentennial is "America250." Throughout 2026, communities across the nation will commemorate this historic milestone with parades, concerts, cultural events, and spectacular fireworks displays.

 The Meaning Behind Independence

In 1776, the thirteen American colonies declared "no" to oppression and "yes" to freedom.The Declaration of Independence boldly states:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

Two hundred and fifty years later, the same question remains:

What kind of freedom are we truly seeking?

Political freedom? Economic freedom? Or the freedom that Jesus Christ offers?

As Jesus said in John 8:36:

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

The 940 Gospel Radio Perspective: Freedom and Faith

America's Founding Fathers endured hardship, uncertainty, and sacrifice before achieving independence.

Three lessons we can apply today:

1. Freedom comes at a price.
   Blood was shed in 1776 to secure a nation's freedom. Our spiritual freedom also came at a price—the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.

2. Unity brings strength.
   Divided, the thirteen colonies were vulnerable. United, they became a nation. As Jesus taught in Mark 3:25:

   "If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand."

3. 250 years represent a lasting legacy.
   What are we leaving for the next generation? More than a strong nation, are we raising a generation that seeks God in prayer?
